Kiwifruit, of exotic origin but produced in France, are still difficult to find in the fruit and vegetable section in stores. An analysis of kiwifruit purchases and consumption reveals that it has not yet found its place in French cuisine, but that expectations are high.

Food consumption in France: 2020, a special year

Since the lockdown in the spring of 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the lifestyle of many French people has changed: new purchasing and consumption habits have developed (direct purchases of local products, online orders...), accompanied by a decrease in purchasing power for some of them.

The sanitary restrictions put in place also had a negative influence on purchasing, with the fear or impossibility of going to certain points of sale, the handling of products which was considered risky, the proximity with other customers and mandatory face masks.
