CrackSense - Sensing solution for fruit cracking mitigation
Project description
The CrackSense project aims to study the problem of fruit cracking in citrus fruits, pomegranates, table grapes and sweet cherries by developing and upscaling technologies for detecting the phenomenon based on real-time data through piloting activities.
- identifying the climatic and cultivation factors aggravating the cracking of cherries (rise in temperature, over-irrigation, fertilization, architecture of the orchard, etc.);
- identifying the periods of application of strategies to attenuate the phenomenon (application of calcium, deployment of rain covers, etc.).
This is a European project involving France, Germany, Lithuania, Greece, Belgium, Serbia and Israel.
